Highland Capital Management Gives $10 Million To Bush Center
James Dondero CEO of Highland Capital Management just gave $10 million to support the George W. Bush Presidential Center. The massive endowment will help sustain the center and help continue the center’s most popular programs, “Engage at the Bush Center.”
This high-powered series brings together some of the most prominent authors, leaders and politicians to discuss pop culture and the news of the day. Dondero and Bush Center CEO Kenneth Hersch made the announcement today.
Hersh says he is very happy about today’s news. “I have always been a support of the Bush Center since its inception. “Highland Capital Management has gone above and beyond in making this commitment to our projects.”
Highland Capital also made a 5 million endowment to the center back in 2012. The company has been one of the Bush Center’s largest benefactors since its opening in 2013.
“Highland Capital is proud to be a party of the George Bush Center’s long-term vision. It’s great that the Bush Center’s Engage Series opens up dialogue regarding the policy issues that affect all communities.”
The first event sponsored by Highland Capital Management is two-part series: “Constitutional Conversations: Justice Scalia’s Memorable Speeches / James Madison & Today’s Media.” The series will start off with Justice Scalia’s son Christopher Scalia, discussing his father’s favorite book Scalia Speaks: Reflections on Law, Faith, and Life Well Lived.
The second part of the event will feature a First Amendment discussion with panelists National Constitution Center CEO Jeffrey Rosen, Pew researcher Amy Mitchell and Dallas Morning News editor Mike Thompson.
The engage series has had sellout crowds and been an important part of the Bush Center agenda. Past programs have featured Jenna Bush, Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels, GOP Pollster Mike McKinnon and Hamilton cast member Christopher Jackson.
