Take That First Step

Sometimes we all need a little push, just a little motivation, to get ourselves moving in the right direction.  There is just something that scares us about taking that first step that scares us.  Whether it is something exciting or stressful, our emotions overwhelm us and we freeze, paralyzed.  We need that extra nudge to help our feet get moving.  There are people out there, ready and willing to help us, if we would but just ask.

If you’ve been injured…

If you’ve been hurt, sometimes you don’t know where to turn.  You may worry that you’ve waited too long, or that no one will believe you about what happened.  Reaching out to a good personal attorney firm, such as Valent Legal is the first step.  They are trained to know the law and are able to help explain your options to you.

If you’ve been thinking about going back to school…

Sometimes, the options for schooling can be a little overwhelming.  There are so many different fields of studies, colleges to attend, online or in campus…  The possibilities seem endless.  Did you know that most colleges have a carrier counselor who is trained to help you navigate your options?  They will take the time to sit down and listen to your ultimate carrier goal, and even help you set one if you are unsure.  Start at your local community college and meet with a carrier counselor.  It doesn’t commit you to anything, but simply allows you to understand your options.

If you’ve been thinking about being your own boss…

Entrepreneurship is something that is becoming more and more popular these days.  People are getting tired of “working for the man” and are stepping out to create their own company.  This could be something such as opening their own shop or creating their own blog.  If you’re looking for help, there are many online coaches, such as Rebecca Mountain who are able to assist you in making your dreams come true.  I’ve chosen this path, with this blog, and I don’t regret it at all.  There is something very freeing about knowing that you are in control of your own thing (no matter what that is for you).

If you’ve been abused…

Being hurt, especially by someone you thought you could trust, is a horribly damaging thing.  It’s not your fault.  Let that thought sink in and own it.  Find someone that you can talk to, whether it be a friend, a counselor, or a preacher or someone at your local church.  There are many programs out there designed to help.  The important thing is to just remember that you are not alone.  And it is not your fault.  Don’t be scared or ashamed to ask for help.  You are loved by your Heavenly Father and he wants nothing more than to draw you in for a great big hug.

No matter what you are facing, embrace it.  Don’t let it overtake you, but conquer it.  Take that first step, and the rest will slowly come easier and easier.

What is holding you back from taking that first step today?
