Homemakers, Here’s How To Brighten Up Your House For The Summer!

I don’t know about you but, I like my home to reflect the different season as much as possible. In the winter it’s all about being cozy and snuggling up in front of the fire. However, when summer comes, I like to open the house up a bit, make the flow from the outside to the insight freer, and lighten up the decor a little. Something that you can find out exactly how to do by reading the post below.

Before you get started on your home makeover, it can help to get some inspiration from different sources. Then you will be able to have an idea of what your finished summer ready home will look like. Of course, you may be overwhelmed as to where to find this, especially as the Internet is crammed full of interior design blogs and magazines.

Well, to help, why not use the sites that make you think ‘life goals’ when you have come across them. These can be any sort of site that deals with interior design and even furniture stores can be an excellent source of inspiration because they will have an expert that is trained in how to stage rooms to look their best.

Color schemes

Once you have allowed your imagination to be filled with inspiration, then it’s time to consider color schemes. You have two choices here. The first is to go with the color scheme that you already have on the walls. This option is the most convenient for a lot of folks because it means they only have to change around the soft furnishing and not repaint the entire room.

The second option is to entirely repaint. Something which is fine if this is a job that needs to happen anyway. Although, I wouldn’t recommend it as being time or cost efficient just for a seasonal renovation. In fact, if you do need to repaint entirely, remember to pick a neutral color that will work with many difference decor schemes, so you can change thing up season by season, without too many problems.

Soft furnishing

Next, it’s time to get to the fun bit, and that is swapping over the soft furnishing in the room to give it a new look. If you are going the whole hog, you may want to change out the curtains for something lighter in color and even in texture.

A great tip here is that you can usually get used curtains that are in fantastic condition from online auction sites at a  fraction of the cost.

Then add some coordinating cushions in lighter tones, and even some throws that match and you are good to go.

Get Rid of Clutter

Apart from the tips mentioned above, make sure you get rid of the things that you don’t really need in your home. Unless it’s decorative, follow the 1-year rule. “Have you used this item in the past year?” If not, let it go. Recycle your clutter and get a junk removal company to take care of the rest.

Outside flow

Last, of all, one of the best things about summer is that you can open up all the doors and windows and get a real flow from the inside to the outside going.

Open up your home when summer comes.

Of course, before you do this, it is helpful to check the condition of the door and windows and make sure they open OK and are clean. Then add in some house plants to soften the transition, and you will be able to have a open home where a cool breeze can meander through on a hot day.
