How To Keep Your Skin Looking Fresh and Healthy This Winter

While there are plenty of things you can do to keep the chill at bay, it gets kinda tricky to keep your skin looking fresh and healthy once the cold has set in. It’s not, however, impossible. Below, we take a look at a few easy to do tips that’ll help to reduce the winter effects on your skin.



Avoid Hot Showers

OK, we know that hot showers are something of a blessing during winter. There’s no faster way to get warm! However, it’s important to remember that those hot showers aren’t as good for you as might think. If the water is too hot, you’ll be causing your skin damage. Instead, opt for just warm water. You’ll still get cosily warm, and your skin will thank you for it. If you’re feeling really brave, however, then there’s always the cold shower option: they’re really good for you!


Know What Moisturizer Works For You

Your moisturizer is going to be your secret weapon against bad skin this winter. However, you can’t just rely on any old product to see you through to spring: you need to have a moisturizer that’s right for your skin. If you have combination skin, take a look at and find the right moisturizer for your skin. Also, be sure to buy separate products for your face and your body, as they are two different types of skin, and thus have different needs.


Stay Active, Eat Well

OK, we know that people tend to give themselves a pass during winter. Instead of eating the types of food they’d eat during summer, they go for quick and easy – and unhealthy – comfort foods. A takeaway pizza sounds as good as anything when it’s freezing outside! But if you’re loading up on too many “bad for you” foods, then you’re skin is going to look tired and lifeless. Instead, eat well! Your body, skin, and mouth will all thank you for it. You should also endeavor to stay active, even when the weather is frigid outside: it’ll be your first line of defence against the effects of chilly temperatures.



Pampering Evenings

When it’s too cold to go outside in the evening, you could binge watch television, or you could do something productive with your time! If it’s the latter, then look at having a pampering evening where you exfoliate your skin, use face masks, and so on. It’ll do your skin a world of good, and you’ll have a pretty fun time when you’re doing it, too!


Drink Water

It’s easy to stick to the coffee or hot chocolate when it’s cold outside, but it’s important that you’re drinking plenty of water, too, as this help to keep your skin nice and healthy. If you’re determined to have a hot drink, make it hot water with a slice of lemon. Tasty and refreshing!
