10 Ways To Vamp Up Your Bedroom
I’ve slowly been working up sprucing up our bedroom. Especially since I began working, it has become my quiet space. I go in here each evening after I tuck the kids in bed to unwind and relax. Tiny improvements have been taking place to make the space more enjoyable and more beautiful. That’s why this contributed piece fits so well for my life – it’s full of great tips that you could incorporate into your bedroom to help you polish up your space.
Your home is a special place for you and your family. It is where you spend most of your free time when you aren’t in work, where you host dinner parties for your friends, and where you watch your children grow up. The bedroom in particular is the one place we treat as a quiet sanctuary at the end of a stressful day and where we truly relax and hopefully get a good night’s’ sleep. It is because of this that today we are going to take a look at 10 simple ways to vamp up your bedroom and turn it into the ultimate nocturnal retreat.
1. Be Smart With Storage
Before you do anything else in your bedroom, try and work out if there is a better way you store all of your belongings. No one likes to live in a cluttered, cramped space; and navigating between several pieces of furniture can make for a very painful midnight toilet trip. Instead of having a wardrobe, chest of drawers, vanity and multiple cabinets; try housing some of your belongings underneath your bed. You can purchase a bed which has storage already built in, and this will be ideal for any bedding and knick-knacks you need to store.
2. Buy A Sliding Door Wardrobe
As with the above, the last thing you want to do is buy a wardrobe which opens up right to the edge of your bed. It’s awkward and just not practical. The best option is to invest in a storage facility which has sliding doors instead. It will save you room and can double up as a floor-length mirror too.
3. A Lick Of Paint
A good coat of paint can hide a multitude of sins, and it is no different with your bedroom. If you want to create the most relaxing atmosphere for a good night’s sleep, try to stick to white and pastel shades on your walls to relax your mind and calm your body.
4. Bring The Outside In
It has been proven that having houseplants in your home can relieve stress. This is most likely because they produce oxygen which cleans the air in our homes. Bringing plants into any room in the house lifts the atmosphere and adds a delicate touch to your décor. And if you are afraid that you won’t be able to keep them alive; opt for succulents or cactus’ instead.
5. Seasonal Touches
As it is coming towards winter, there are a host of amazing autumnal and winter soft furnishings and bedding sets in the stores. Adding a touch of the festive season to your bedroom with a beautiful tartan print or a soft white design will instantly vamp up your bedroom.
6. Upgrade Your Mattress and Bedding
If you really want a new feel to your bedroom, consider investing in a new mattress, toppers and even a headboard. Adding these touches will not only improve your night’s sleep, but will also make your bedroom feel brand new.
7. Plump Up Your Pillows
A simple way to make your bedroom look better without having to fork out any money is to plump up your pillows, it will make your bed look much more comfortable and luxurious.
8. Soft Furnishings
Colourful accessories such as cushions and throws are a sure-fire way to instantly take your room from dull to amazing in seconds. You can find so many beautiful designs in stores and online, and you can change the accessories you have in accordance to the time of year. Have some thick, tartan cushions in the winter, and leaf print in the summer.
9. Fairy Lights and Candles
If you want a cosy space to spend your nights, adding some ambient lighting is the best way to take your bedroom to the next level. Fairy lights offer a soft light and give you a magical and romantic feel to the room. Candles not only offer light, but they make your room smell amazing and give off heat in the winter.
10. Add A Juliet Balcony
If you don’t have the space for a full balcony on the side of your bedroom, the alternative is a Juliet balcony. Instead of having a space outside your home to walk out and gaze out on the world; you’ll have an opening in your room covered with a glass panel, allowing you to stand and feel the fresh breeze without having to pay for expensive building works and having scaffolding on the side of your property
